Under the veil of secrecy, the rebranding of this Toronto landmark to transform its appearance to the Scotiabank Arena was revealed on July 1, 2018.

This was an exciting job for Vifloor Canada, and we were proud to be part of this project.

Back in the spring, MLSE asked us to quote on new matting for the arena. Bound by confidentiality until the reveal, we worked quietly behind the scenes. Bensimon Bryne, the creative agency hired by Scotiabank created a bold and striking design to showcase the new Scotiabank Arena. The creative team and Scotiabank selected our newest matting product, Metropolis.

Metropolis has all the same benefits of our “tried and true” Super Series line; however it features a smooth and velour-like feel and appearance. Available in 16 colours, six of which are bold logo colours of white, solid black, royal blue, cherry red, orange and yellow, Metropolis can be combined with Super Series or used on its own. The creative team selected five Metropolis colours and effectively used them to create a variety of geometric patterns for the entrance mats and elevator bays.

We worked with CBRE, the project manager for Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, to coordinate our portion of the reveal. The install was expertly done by Tri-Can Contract Inc. It took six days over a two-week period. Approximately 700 yards of matting were needed to complete 12 mats of various sizes and shapes and five elevator bays.

The continuity of colours and the creative designs of the mats and elevator bays bring a contemporary and up-to-date look to this Toronto landmark.
