Vifloor Canada was delighted to host a CEU (Continuing Education Unit) event on Tuesday night. Aptly named the “CEU & Brew” night, our evening was partnered with Great Lakes Brewery (GLB). The first part of the evening was hosted in Vifloor’s showroom followed by dinner, oysters and craft beer down the street from Vifloor at GLB.

Vifloor’s Canada’s very own Scott Pope and Heather Lawson, both IDCEC Certified Instructors, presented Shaw Hospitality’s ColourConnect CEU.

Resources for architects and interior designers

ColourConnect is a forecast intended for architects and interior designers. Shaw Hospitality has internally researched the forecast and is intended as a resource and tool to help inspire the minds that will shape our future. It’s a look at how human beings are meant to experience, connect and live purposefully. ColourConnect CEU explored how we use design to connect with our communities, the earth and ourselves – all through the lens of colour.

The use of palettes is at the forefront of this CEU. ColourConenct is meant to be a tool to help drive conscious conversation on design inspiration and future innovations. It is an amalgamation of relevant ideas we see manifested in design and a forecast of how those things will impact our conversations, choices and future design solutions all through four exceptional palettes:

• Self: The Self palette helps to reflect and reconnect, realizing the value of solitude in an always-on world. We look within to find purpose and true happiness, simplifying our lives and the world around us.
• Creativity: The way we are expressing ourselves is changing and creating dialogue. The Creativity palette supports design that inspires meaningful experiences, encouraging participation and freedom of expression.
• Community: In Community, they examine what connects us to each other, both locally and globally. Bridging our divides, design is challenged to be empathetic, resilient and inclusive.
• Earth: Earth explores our relationship with the natural world, acknowledging the long-term effects of human impact. They examine the extraordinary challenges of design for a rapidly changing planet.

Continuing education for design professionals

A CEU is a nationally recognized and uniformed unit of measure for continuing education and training. Architects and interior designers alike must acquire units of credit each year to remain licensed. The ColourConnect CEU qualified for 1 AIA Learning Unit and/or 0.1 IDCEC CEU credit for architects (AIA) and interior designers (IDCEC).
