The Op’s Monkeys are at it again!
Teamed up with Vifloor Canada’s Michael Chisholm and Keelan Neal, representatives from Bentall Kennedy, Manulife, MLSE, Avison Young, Quadreal Property Group, Sands Commercial Flooring, and Keltic Transportation helped raise over $2.7 million for the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre at the Scotiabank Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer event. The festivities took place on September 29 at Toronto’s Woodbine Racetrack.
This dawn-to-dusk fundraising event features hundreds of spirited road hockey games, as well as musical acts, celebrity appearances, interactive activities, food and beverages. Over 1,700 participants gather with the same goal: To conquer cancer in our lifetime.
Collectively known as the Op’s Monkeys, our team plays in the Commercial Real Estate Division. Oxford Properties Group, CBRE, Triovest, and Dream Unlimited comprised some of the other teams in the division. The division raised over $68,000 this year. Op’s Monkeys were the division leaders, raising $25,100 and were the 23rd highest fundraisers of 145 teams at the time of the celebrity draft.
Similar to a hockey draft, the top 50 fundraisers get to draft celebrities to play for their team. As the team has climbed to the 17th highest fundraising team overall, the Op’s Monkeys drafted ex-Toronto Maple Leaf Lou Franceschetti as its celebrity player this year.
Of the six years they have been playing, The Op’s Monkeys have raised over $100,000. The commercial real estate division as a whole raised over $500,000.00 over the eight years of the event.
Scotiabank Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer is one of the top 10 single day athletic fundraisers in Canada, and funds raised go to critical new areas of research. Vifloor Canada would like to thank the event organizers and all of the participants who made this year’s event a success.
