Inspiration can come in many forms.

Toronto’s Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) seems a natural setting for design inspiration with an array of art, world culture and history among its roughly six million items and 40 galleries.

While spending a day outside the office, and walking up a staircase at the ROM, the proprietors of Vifloor Canada Ltd. noticed a stand-out design where one would least expect among the museum’s countless curios – the air vents.

A quick photo via smartphone and the image was forwarded to Vifloor’s design team. In turn, the design department took the components of the grate design and created a beautiful carpet that is now a popular Vifloor pattern.
